Will Bronte be a place our kids can afford?
Smart growth, particularly Bronte friendly growth, means a range of affordable options with housing for all stages of life. I'll work with Planning staff to advocate for ensuring that a variety of options are constructed.
Infrastructure and services MUST be funded in concert with development: as budgets are developed, I'll ensure that transit, police, and fire operating dollars are sufficient to match growth, ensuring taxpayer efficiency.
Oakville beaches are suffering from their newfound popularity. As density increases, where will people go to cool off? I'll advocate for the reopening of the Bronte Creek Provincial Park pool, which can accommodate 2,000 swimmers, as part of a comprehensive Oakville waterfront strategy.

Our harbour is the jewel of Oakville, representing the spirit of Bronte.
We must fund the Oakville waterfront strategy to ensure we have the necessary resources to bring this vision to life. Without advocating for funding, our goals remain merely a concept.
To help Bronte small businesses thrive, we should implement shuttles for off-site parking during events to boost pedestrian traffic. Additionally, we need to protect the Bronte Rd and Marine Dr. intersection from erosion through the creation of a permanent pier 'around the bend.'

Creating exceptional customer experiences is essential. No senior in Oakville should miss a medical appointment due to complications in arranging transportation. By connecting healthcare services and transit administration, we can ensure a smoother customer experience and community well-being.
Prioritizing safe road and sidewalk usage, along with robust home security and personal safety, should define life in Oakville. Additionally, encouraging citizen reporting can help us gather valuable data for police analysis, promoting taxpayer efficiency.
To reduce morning traffic on Rebecca St., implementing transit specials for Blakelock that get kids to class on time is crucial. Investing in public transit is fundamentally linked to alleviating traffic issues while supporting smart growth.
How are we spending our taxes?
Reinstate Citizen Advisory Committees to transparently and constructively voice ideas easily, especially in the context of Bronte friendly growth.
Fifteen years ago, these committees provided a platform for citizens to raise concerns and ask questions. I chaired one, and it was effective.
We need plain-language Council reports and transparency on how taxpayer resources are being spent, particularly concerning the Oakville waterfront strategy. Are we getting value for our investments? I urge direct staff to implement performance goals that reflect taxpayer efficiency and the effective use of resources.
What's important for Bronte? Affordability, managed growth, funding the waterfront strategy.
When I joined the Town in the 1990s as a young graduate, the Mayor asked me a question that has stuck with me throughout my career. She pointed to a pin on her lapel. It was simply the number "1".
"What do you think this is?" she asked.
I was sure it was a trick question, so I asked her to elaborate.
She told me it served as a daily reminder that there is only ONE taxpayer funding every level of government. You, me, our neighbours: one taxpayer.
Whether elected or as staff, it isn't just our job to manage those tax dollars—it is our obligation and privilege. Her challenge to us was clear: treat every budget dollar like it’s your own, stretch it creatively, and eliminate waste.
Whether stretching a dollar for private shareholders or the public trust, efficiency matters. As Town Councillor, respect for your tax dollars will always be the foundation of why I ask questions.
